Traction Inverter HIL Test System
Inverters are essential components in electric vehicles because of the speed, torque and power output of the electric motor has to be controlled based on the driving conditions. It includes control logics and power electronics drive circuit. The inverter is a bidirectional device, it converts DC voltage of the battery to 3 phase AC voltages to drive the electric motor. Similarly, 3 phase AC voltage of the generator (During re-generative braking) into a DC voltage for charging the battery.
Inverter HIL test system extensively emulates the battery pack and motor characteristics through DC emulator and Machine emulator. The battery pack emulation through DC emulator acts as power source to the inverter. Different motor types (BLDC, PMSM & ASM) can be emulated in real time through machine emulator, both motoring and generating modes along with motor position emulation. The DC emulator and Machine emulators are available at low and high voltage applications.
Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test platform based on NI PXI Real-Time Controller, Communication & IO modules, NI LabVIEW software, NI VeriStand software and simulation environment includes battery pack, high fidelity motor model sand fault simulations for hybrid and electric-vehicle applications.
